AOL (6 hours)

Course Length:  3 Classes, 2 hours each
Prerequisites:  Windows Operating System
Overview

With America Online software, you can visit web sites, join AOL's internal forums, or write electronic mail messages.  The software presents you with the Welcome window and the AOL screen, from which you can read and write mail, join chat groups, communicate with "buddies," get the latest headlines, or access your favorite places on the Web.  In this class, you will learn about AOL menus and toolbars, navigation within the AOL window, using dialog boxes, the Address Book and much more!

Enrollees must be current AOL members as students will log on to AOL using their established AOL account information.

Course Outline and Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Sign on to AOL
  • Change a password
  • Set preferences
  • Use parental controls
  • Use Keywords to open online areas
  • Get online help
  • Read news articles
  • Send email
  • Attach files to email
  • Use the Address Book
  • Use My Places and Favorites
  • Send/receive instant messages
  • Add/remove buddies
  • Research a topic on the Web
