Basic PC Skills

 
Course Length:  3 Classes, 2 hours each
Prerequisites:  None
 
Overview
This class is presented in a lecture/demonstration format, with moderate hands-on activities.  Activities and information are presented in handouts

This class is intended for persons who want to learn how to use a mouse and keyboard.  Lessons include explanation, drill and practice to learn the basic techniques for, and to develop some level of proficiency in , using these input devices.  

 
Course Outline and Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Identify basic computer hardware components, such as the system unit, mouse, monitor, and keyboard.
  • Accomplish the four basic mouse actions:  Point, click, double-click, and drag.
  • Select appropriate mouse settings for individual use.
  • Identify the keys on a standard keyboard, including home row keys, second finger keys, numbers, special characters, and function keys.
  • Use the appropriate finger placement for all keys on the keyboard.
