Prerequisites: Basic understanding of
addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions -OR- Math I
Overview
This class provides an overview of the
concepts involved when using Math in everyday situations. Students
are given current examples and then asked to determine a decision
strategy.
Course Outline and Objectives
By the end of the course, participants
will be able to:
Know how to apply fractions, decimals, and
percents when evaluating credit card interest, loans, and sale items
Decide whether the cashier is really giving the
correct change
Measure time
Find averages
Examples will come from the newspaper or
manufacturer advertisements. Students can bring a project to class
on the last day.
