Math Review II (Using Your Math Skills Everyday)

 
Prerequisites:  Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions -OR- Math I
 
Overview
This class provides an overview of the concepts involved when using Math in everyday situations.  Students are given current examples and then asked to determine a decision strategy.
 
Course Outline and Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Know how to apply fractions, decimals, and percents when evaluating credit card interest, loans, and sale items
  • Decide whether the cashier is really giving the correct change
  • Measure time
  • Find averages

Examples will come from the newspaper or manufacturer advertisements.  Students can bring a project to class on the last day.
