| Overview |
| Scanning is the process through
which hard copy documents and images are converted into digital data.
An optical scanner is a device that can read text or illustrations
printed on paper and translate the information into a form the computer
can use. Today, scanners are used in business and at home to scan
photos, books, magazines, and paper documents - even real items like
coins, cloth and leaves--into a form that can be incorporated into
greeting cards, business presentations, Web pages, archived files, and
many other programs for many different uses. |
