Beginning Word (6 hours)

 
Course Length:  3 Classes, 2 hours each
Prerequisites:  Familiar with Windows Operating System
 
Overview
Word processing software is the most common application software used on personal computers.  Word lets you create, modify, and format documents, using menus and dialog boxes.  In this class you will use Word to create, save, edit, and format documents focusing on the development of text manipulation skills.
 
Course Outline and Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Create and move around in a document
  • Move or copy text and work with multiple documents
  • Set up the page and format text
  • Print a document
 
Using the Program
  • Physical elements of the window
  • Create and save a new document
  • Select text, copy, cut and paste
  • Using "scraps" to transfer data from the desktop
  • Spelling and Grammar

Tools

  • Find and replace
  • AutoFormat and AutoCorrect
  • ClipArt and WordArt
  • Drop Caps and Text Box
Editing
  • Insert, type over, delete
  • Format Characters
  • Format Paragraphs
  • Margins
